If you Google the word expedite you would find the following meaning: “make (an action or process) happen sooner or be accomplished more quickly”. At the Commercial Fishing Permits Center, we chose that word for a reason: your Fisheries Permits from the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) can be obtained faster from our website. How? We are a third-party agency that allows you to get all of your commercial fishing paperwork and USCG documentation from the same site. Find out more in this article!
Getting to Know the NOAA Fisheries Permits
Have you been struggling lately with the NOAA Fisheries Permits? Does it seem that every time you get one completed, another documentation is about to expire, and so on? If you feel like this let us tell you you are not alone. Fishing business owners from all over the country deal with this problem on a day-to-day basis.
The other problem commercial fishing professionals deal with is time: nobody has the time to be up to date with all the different documents. Even if you have it, you don’t want to use it for this. That is why we came up with this platform that lets you get the documentation as simple as possible, and find the right permits for you in just a few seconds. You will notice for instance, if you head back to our home page, that the most used applications are easily accessible on the left side of the portal. Furthermore, in the middle, you can switch between state and federal permits. What are we exactly talking about? You will see this in the next paragraph.
Three Types of Commercial Documentation
We’ve been talking about the documentation you need, the paperwork that has to be up to date… but what licenses do you exactly have to comply with? Let’s shed some light on the matter.
To begin with, every vessel used for commercial purposes with a net weight of over 5 tons, needs to be documented by the United States Coast Guard.
Secondly, you need to decide whether you are willing to get state or federal permits. State permits allow you to seek fish in freshwater areas and up the coastline, in the area that goes from 0 up to 3 nautical miles from shore. They vary from state to state and depend on the Department of Natural Resources of each state.
Fisheries Permits from NOAA, on the other hand, let you cast your lines in the federal waters, the area compounded from 3 nautical miles from shore up to 200 nautical miles. There are 5 different regions in which you can obtain the permits: Alaska – Pacific Islands – Atlantic region – West Coast – South Coast.
All of Your Forms in One Place
As we said at the beginning, nobody likes to have to process this documentation in three (!) different departments. The Commercial Fishing Permits Center allows you to get all of the Fisheries Permits from NOAA, Departments of Natural Resources, and USCG documentation in the same place. Contact us today and get your fishing business started (or renewed)!
